To get a basic driving lesson in New Zealand, contact a professional driving school like Muray Driving School, or use our services for test preparation. You can also practice with a friend or family member and study the NZ Road Code thoroughly to prepare for the theory test. Lessons typically involve a review of your progress, practical driving to develop skills, and sessions on hazard perception.

What to Expect During a Lesson

  • Briefing:

The instructor will review your recent practice, discuss areas for improvement, and plan the day's lesson.

  • Practical Driving:

You will practice fundamental skills, including steering, braking, gear changes (for manual cars), and other manoeuvres.

  • Skill Development:

Lessons focus on applying road rules, developing hazard perception and response, and fine-tuning skills for the tests.

  • Preparation for Tests:

Lessons are adapted to prepare you for the learner, restricted, and full driver licence practical tests.
